After a midweek loss to the best team in the world in Barcelona, Arsenal immediately turned their heads to training and preparing for the trip up north to Manchester to face Louis van Gaal’s United side.

The Red Devils go into the game full of confidence after their 5-1 drubbing of Midtjylland in the UEFA Europa League and despite their poor league form as of late, will look forward to continuing their run of not losing to Arsenal in England’s top division at Old Trafford for the past 10 seasons.

It was good news on Saturday afternoon, after Gunners boss Arsene Wenger confirmed that Gabriel would return to training and would likely be involved in the squad for the trip to Old Trafford. The Brazilian did indeed return and could be utilised in the side, whether a start would be too soon after injury is another question though.

The likes of Krystian Bielik and Jeff Reine-Adelaide also joined in with the first-team at London Colney, while Danny Welbeck – boasting the chance to start on his second return to Old Trafford in an Arsenal shirt – looked sharp and will give Wenger some food for thought as to why he should be involved in the starting XI.

There were no absentees at training other than those already known, while Robert Pires, recently retired, trained with the squad as he usually does.
