Arsenal host Barcelona in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday evening, which means that Gunners star Alexis Sanchez will face his former side.
Ahead of the tie, one of Alexis’ former teammates, Andres Iniesta, spoke to the north London side’s official website and sung the praises of the Chilean international.
He spoke about what makes the forward such a good player and was very complimentary about the skill and strength of his ex-teammate, claiming that he is a player Barcelona will need to stop.
What makes Alexis so dangerous is that he is unpredictable. When he dribbles, when he attacks, he is a very strong player.
He’s got skill and when he has the ball he always creates doubts. In that sense, we have to try to make him feel uncomfortable on the field and try to minimise his strengths.
The World Cup winner also discussed Tuesday’s opponents, their style of play and what qualities the London-based side have that could trouble his own team on Tuesday and in the second leg at the Camp Nou in a few weeks’ time.
Arsenal are known for having a style of play, a way of understanding football through having the ball. I also think that the type of players that their coach or that Arsenal look for are very similar. I think their strong spots are their quality, their talent and the way they play. The way they attack, they way they combine. I think they’re a very dangerous opponent in that sense.
Barcelona have been in fine form of late and Tuesday evening’s game will be a huge test for Arsene Wenger’s men as they look to finally win Europe’s major competition.
