Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini has claimed that he enjoyed playing alongside new signing Mohamed Elneny.
The Egyptian started only his second game for the club since joining in mid-January, featuring in the midfield two alongside the experienced Frenchman.
Arsenal failed to put any goals past Championship side Hull City, who remained resolute throughout the 90 minutes they played at the Emirates Stadium.
Not only did Elneny impress Flamini, the Arsenal defensive midfielder also sang the praises of 19-year-old Alex Iwobi, who once again looked composed and stellar on the ball in his third FA Cup start this campaign.
Speaking to the Final Whistle, as reported by the club’s official website, the Frenchman praised his teammates.
I think they both played very well.
They were very good in their positions, very good technically and also in transition [both] defensively and offensively. It was a good partnership and I enjoyed it but we have to continue now.
It was a very, very frustrating game. We had the opportunity a few times to close the game and win it.
Unfortunately, we didn’t so I think frustration is the main word of the game today.
We were a bit lucky last weekend to score in the last second of the game against Leicester City, but it didn’t happen today.
We had many opportunities and chances and this is not the first game that has been like that. Even against Southampton and Leicester it was like that and today we had plenty of opportunities.
If you don’t finish it, it is not enough. Now we have to play away and win that game.
Arsenal will now face Hull in a replay at the KC Stadium, with the chance to qualify for the quarter-finals at stake. Before then however, the north London side take on the likes of Barcelona and Manchester United.
