Taking place between Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th February, this was a significant week for our loanees.
Yaya Sanogo made his debut appearance for Charlton Athletic, while Glen Kamara made his first full start for Southend United.
Every team is entering a crucial stage in the season as they fight for promotion, or in some cases, relegation.
With 11 players out on loan, let’s take a look at how the club’s loanees got on this week.
Mathieu Debuchy (FC Bordeaux)
Mathieu Debuchy once again played a key part in Bordeaux’s 4-2 win over Guingamp. The full-back featured for the full 90 minutes and finally registered his first win with his current club.
Debuchy is finally receiving the crucial game time he needs to push on for the Euro 2016 France squad.
Gedion Zelalem (Rangers FC)
Zelalem has arguably been the standout performer out of Arsenal’s loanees. This weekend however, the US youngster was an unused substitute in Rangers’ 1-1 draw with Alloa Athletic in the Scottish Championship.
Jon Toral (Birmingham City)
Jon Toral once again started for Birmingham City – playing 82 minutes. Although Birmingham drew 0-0 with Rotherham United, the Spaniard will be crucial in pushing Birmingham into the playoffs.
Such has been Toral’s performances that Birmingham coach, Gary Rowett has praised his intelligence, but also sees him playing for his parent club in the Premier League.
Chuba Akpom (Hull City)
Following a slight fall from grace last month, Chuba Akpom returned to Hull’s match day squad and was used as a 76th minute substitute in their 2-0 win over Blackburn.
The win sees Hull stay top of the Championship and saw Akpom make his 16th appearance for the club.
Isaac Hayden (Hull City)
This year has been somewhat frustrating for Isaac Hayden. He has struggled to gain much playing time for Hull and was once again left on the bench in their 2-0 win over Blackburn.
Previously he had played a part of Hull’s last four games, and Steve Bruce has recently praised his attitude, his move may even become permanent in the summer.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles (Ipswich Town)
Although Maitland-Niles was a constant fixture in Ipswich’s side earlier in the year, recently he has found it hard to gain much game time.
This weekend Maitland-Niles played 53 minutes in Ipswich’s 2-1 loss to Bristol City in the Championship.
Yaya Sanogo (Charlton Athletic)
It’s reasonable to say that Sanogo’s season has not been the best so far. Having been sent out on loan to Charlton this January, Sanogo made his first appearance, coming on as a 73rd minute substitute, in Charlton’s 0-0 draw with Cardiff City in the Championship.
Wellington Silva (Bolton Wanderers)
After suffering an injury in December, Wellington Silva has been a constant starter for Bolton over the last few weeks. The Brazilian’s performances have also improved recently which saw him gain assist in Bolton’s 3-2 loss to Brighton.
The winger provided the assist for Emile Heskey’s equaliser before being subbed off in the 66th minute.
Emiliano Martinez (Wolverhampton Wanderers)
Having sustained an injury in December, Martinez has struggled to get back into the first team.
After being dropped from the squad last month, Martinez managed to make the bench for Wolves’ 2-1 loss to Preston North End, but was unused in the game.
Glen Kamara (Southend United)
The Finnish under-21 international made his first start for Southend United in their 1-0 defeat to Scunthorpe.
This follows from playing 45 minute against Colchester last week.
Wojciech Szczesny (AS Roma)
Szczesny once again played the full 90 minutes for Roma as the Italian side beat Carpi 3-1. The Polish international could not keep a clean sheet, however.
The FA Cup winner is set to return to Arsenal in the summer, following Roma’s decision to decline a permanent deal and sign Brazilian keeper, Alisson for the following season.
