Arsenal are set to resume their talks with the agent of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot, according to the print edition of French publication Le10Sport.
The 20-year-old was linked with a move to the Emirates throughout the January transfer window, but no move materialised and the Gunners, perhaps instead, signed Mohamed Elneny. However, it looks like a potential summer transfer is on the cards for the French under-21 international.
Competition for places in the PSG midfield is fierce with the likes of Blaise Matuidi, Thiago Motta and Marco Verratti in the squad, and Rabiot, as reported by the Daily Mail, has made no secret of his frustration at the lack of game time he’s getting with the Ligue 1 champions.
When you train all week, you want to be on the field. Sometimes it’s not possible and it’s frustrating. Paris is my city. It’s great to play here. If I could impose myself here, it would be brilliant. I would be ready to play my whole career at PSG if I was a starter. I would see things differently, that’s for sure.
Arsenal will be looking to add depth to their midfield options in the summer as three aging squad players; Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky are all expected to leave the club with their contracts coming to an end and at just 20-years-old, Rabiot could be the long-term replacement the Gunners most desire.
