The day after Arsenal’s disappointing 0-0 draw against Southampton, which saw the Gunners drop to fourth place in the Barclays Premier League, there are reports that they will finally address their need for a legitimate striker.

According to the Guardian, it is a foregone conclusion that Arsene Wenger will sign Bayer Leverkusen striker, Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez, this summer.

Ever sine he was considered an afterthought by Louis van Gaal, the 28-year-old has set the Bundesliga on fire, scoring 21 goals in 24 matches for fourth-place Bayer Leverkusen. That type of production is exactly what the north London side need but will Wenger finally pull the trigger on the mercurial Mexican?

Arsenal are also linked with Internazionale forward Mauro Icardi and his 21 goals. Icardi was apparently so upset after Inter’s recent 3-0 derby defeat to AC Milan, that a possible move could be in both clubs interests. Chelsea and Liverpool are also interested in Icardi. The latter having had a £22.7m offer turned down on Deadline Day.

With the possibility of Arsenal’s title hopes slipping away, the writing is definitely on the wall for Wenger to finally deliver Arsenal supporters a proper striker.
