Arsenal close in on double transfer swoop
According to the Daily Express, Arsenal are set to complete the double signing of promising Nigerian duo Kelechi Nwakali and Samuel Chukwueze after they impressed for their country in their under-17 World Cup campaign.
The Nigerian pair will come at a fairly cheap price also, at what is believed to be a maximum of £3 million for both of the players combined; a potential bargain deal for boss Arsene Wenger as he looks to bolster his side’s already strong youth academy.
It comes as no surprise to see a move for either of the pair this month, given their exceptional performances at international youth level as they helped Nigeria to under-17 World Cup glory last year.
The only stumbling block of the transfer could come in the form of legal situations and the fact that both Nwakali and Chukwueze are yet to be officially cleared for their work permit to move abroad.
Nwakali played a key role in their trophy win, captaining the team as well as collecting the official player of the tournament honour as a result of his sublime performances. The promising youngster also spent a short period of time on loan at title rivals Manchester City, but the Gunners are now looking to pounce.
Chukwueze was also a key figure for Nigeria in their domination of the world in the youth competition, showing real signs of a massive future with excellent performances out on the wing.
The pair have also attracted interest from German champions Bayern Munich, however, it is looking increasingly likely that the Nigerian duo are to join Arsenal in the coming week.
