Arsenal have completed the signing of Mohamed Elneny from FC Basel, the club has confirmed.
It’s believed that the fee will be in the region of £5m, although could rise to £7.4m in the form of add-ons if requirements are met by the player.
Elneny provides the Gunners with yet another stern midfield option and could slot straight into the starting XI, with Arsene Wenger’s side facing a selection crisis.

The likes of Jack Wilshere, Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla are all sidelined, meaning Elneny’s contribution to the side as a box-to-box midfielder could be key for the remainder of the season.
Having been granted a work permit, Elneny is eligible to feature for Arsenal in all competitions – including the UEFA Champions League.

Elneny becomes the first Egyptian player to ever feature for the Gunners in the Premier League and has been capped at international level on more than 35 occasions.
The player could come straight into the first team fold and is expected to be included in the squad for Sunday’s trip to Stoke.
