Former Leicester City, Birmingham City and Blackburn Rovers midfielder Robbie Savage has praised Arsenal full-back Nacho Monreal, saying he has been impressed with the improvement that the Spaniard has made.
The 29-year-old was often seen as a bit-part player during his early days at Arsenal, but has firmly established himself as the club’s first-choice left back with some impressive performances and Savage was keen to recognise his improvement.
Speaking about the Spaniard’s talents, Savage admitted he has been left surprised by Monreal’s development.
Most improved player of the year: Nacho Monreal, Arsenal lost Ashley Cole to Chelsea 10 years ago and you could argue they have never found a replacement as good as him. But Monreal’s improvement at left-back this season has been striking.
Monreal has been a mainstay in the Arsenal side this season, he’s played in all 20 Premier League games so far, with 19 of those appearances as a starter.
Arsenal sit top of the league table, two points ahead of Leicester City and have a huge chance to win their first league title since 2004.
Monreal’s performances are a huge reason for Arsenal’s success, with the Spaniard providing stability and solidity at the left back position.
