Nacho Monreal arrived at the Emirates on the last day of the January 2013 transfer window. For a time, Arsenal fans were not exactly sure what they had in the 5’10” Spaniard, and he was often second choice to Kieran Gibbs. However, since that time, Monreal has grown in ability and stature to the point that he’s almost certainly one of the first names on the team sheet and is regularly mentioned among the best left backs playing in England today.
Thus, Arsenal supporters are likely to be delighted upon hearing that the left back is currently in talks to sign a new deal with the club and has indicated his desire to do so sooner rather than later in a conversation with talkSPORT.
We are talking [with the club], we need to talk and reach an agreement. I wish that to happen. Of course I’d like to stay here.

Such talk is extremely encouraging from the 29-year old, especially considering how heavily he was linked with a move to Athletic Bilbao during the summer. Monreal has continued to build on a strong 2014/15 season, playing every minute of Arsenal’s Premier League campaign and averaging a 7.43 rating according to WhoScored.
Monreal and the rest of the squad travel to the Liberty Stadium this weekend to take on Swansea City.
