Having scored a total of eight goals in his Arsenal career against Newcastle United, the Gunners may be looking to Olivier Giroud to jump-start their goal scoring on Saturday against the Magpies. Speaking to Arsenal Player, Giroud mentioned his own goal-scoring prowess against Newcastle, but also about the importance of bringing all 3 points back down to London at the game’s conclusion.
“You want obviously to continue the good momentum.
“For me it will be a bit special, but the main thing is to return to London with the three points.”
The Gunners’ French striker was coy on the subject of his goal scoring record against Newcastle and refused to indulge in speculation as to why he has been so successful against them thus far in his career.
“I am not going to say [why I do well against Newcastle] because then there are no more secrets – I need to keep them for me! It is maybe luck or I don’t know, but I really want to keep scoring against them and help the team win the three points.”

During the course of the interview, Giroud continually deflected the conversation away from his own accomplishments to emphasize the importance of winning the game, noting that while it might feel great for him to score the goals, the points are foremost in his mind, particularly with the international break coming on the heels of the weekend’s action.
“We need the win, so we will go there with a big motivation before the international break.
“It is never easy to play there, even if we have been successful in the last games against them, especially there.
We are aware it is going to be a tough game and we need to be at 100 per cent.
Arsenal visit St. James’ Park this Saturday at 12:45pm BST and it will mark their final game in the month of August. After the international break, the team will host Stoke at the Emirates on 12 September.
