After a summer-long campaign by Arsene Wenger to secure the services of Karim Benzema from Real Madrid, it seems as though the Gunners manager may have got his man.
Former Manchester City player Rodney Marsh told talkSPORT that Los Blancos have accepted a bid in the region of £48 million.
“I had a phone call from a mate of mine, and he’s been right on many things, and he said that he believes Real Madrid have accepted a bid somewhere in the region of £48million for Benzema from Arsenal.
“In the past this guy has always been right, he’s never been wrong yet, so we’ll have to wait and see.”
Karim Benzema has featured regularly in the Real Madrid side since his move from Lyon back in 2009 and during his time in the Spanish capital has won the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup, two Copa del Reys and the La Liga title.
It remains to be seen whether the transfer will actually go through, but this news must make Arsenal fans everywhere optimistic about the transfer. Following the Gunners’ slow start to the new campaign, Wenger will be hoping to add Benzema into the squad as quickly as possible, so that he can help improve the team’s goal tally and add more drive to their Premier League campaign.
