Crystal Palace 1-2 Arsenal in pictures
Arsenal bounced back from an extremely disappointing opening day defeat against West Ham United with a 2-1 victory against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon. Due to the optimism and expectations of the club this season, the Gunners were under an unusual amount of pressure heading into the game at Selhurst Park, and needed a positive result. Goals from Olivier Giroud and a Damien Delaney own goal either side of a Joel Ward equaliser gave Arsenal their first win of the season.
Alexis Sanchez returned to the starting line up after an extended break this summer, and could have had a number of goals before half time – Despite not scoring, his influence and impact on the game proved why he’s so important to Arsenal and why he was their player of the season last term.
Arsenal will look to build on this victory when they welcome a new look Liverpool side to the Emirates next Monday night.
