Arsenal have completed the signing of Petr Cech from Chelsea for a fee of around £11 million.
The Gunners have reportedly been on the lookout for a goalkeeper since Wojciech Szczesny was dropped early in the 2014/15 season and with Cech dethroned by the much younger Thibaut Courtois at Stamford Bridge, Arsene Wenger swooped in to sign the Premier League great.
Cech spent 11 years at Chelsea and during that time won a fantastic number of trophies, including four Premier League trophies, four FA Cup triumphs, three Capital One Cup’s, two Community Shields and the UEFA Champions League as well, followed the next season by the UEFA Europa League.
The 33 year-old ‘keeper also has a number of individual triumphs including three golden gloves and is Chelsea’s most capped foreign player with 485 appearances in all competitions, as well as the holding the club’s record for most clean sheets.
With Cech signing for the Gunners, the future of Szczesny has become unclear and it is likely that either he or David Ospina will be let go, with the latter likely to move on to Fenerbahce.
