Manchester United have reportedly won the race to sign Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton this summer according to the Mirror.
The French midfielder has been at the centre of speculation since the end of the season. After not be granted permission to leave the club last season, Schneiderlin looks set to be on his way to Old Trafford after another impressive season under the management of Ronald Koeman.
Schneiderlin was reportedly a target for both North London sides Arsenal and Tottenham, however it is seems Louis Van Gaal is the man to have secured his signature. The reported deal is believed to be somewhere in the region of £24m, with the opportunities of Champions League football luring him away from St. Mary’s, despite Southampton qualifying for the Europa League.
The in-demand midfielder made a total of 25 appearances for the Saints this season, scoring four goals and accumulating just the one assist along the way. Schneiderlin joined Southampton way back in 2008 whilst the club were in the Championship, for just £1.5m from French side RC Strasbourg. During his time at Southampton, Schneiderlin made a total of 230 appearances.
