Reported Arsenal target Morgan Schneiderlin has claimed that he is looking for a move away from Southampton to an English club in the UEFA Champions League.
Schneiderlin has long been a target for Arsenal, but the Frenchman last summer was made to stay at current club Southampton after talks regarding a move away broke down, with the Saints refusing to allow the 25 year-old to be a part of the famous exodus that saw a number of stars including Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana leave for huge fees.
In an interview with French radio station RMC, Schneiderlin said: “I think my decision is made. I learned a lot last season. The goal is to stay in England, it is a championship that I like and where I have a lot of fun.
“If I leave Southampton it is for a club that plays better than the Europa League. There are ongoing discussions, but nothing is done. But of course the Champions League is my goal. If I leave Southampton it will be for a club in the Champions League.”
The Southampton star would certainly fit into Arsene Wenger’s midfield, with his range of passing and ‘box-to-box’ ability an asset the Gunners would certainly benefit from.
As well as Arsenal, fellow Champions League qualifiers Manchester United and Chelsea are believed to be amongst clubs interested in Schneiderlin.
