According to Calciomercatoweb, Arsene Wenger may have pulled off a coup not many would have expected, as the Chilean website reports that Arsenal have agreed a deal to bring Juventus superstar Arturo Vidal to the Emirates Stadium.
It was reported earlier in the week that the UEFA Champions League finalists had rejected a bid from Liverpool believed to be in the region of £15m and now it seems that Wenger has swooped in with a bid that has caught the attention of Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri.
27 year-old Vidal has the same agent as international teammate Alexis Sanchez and it’s believed that this could have been one of many conclusive factors in the Chilean’s decision. With Arsenal needing and looking to strengthen in defensive midfield options, Vidal would be a fantastic, experienced addition who provides a ‘box-to-box’ option and would likely go straight into the team and challenge the already very talented crop of talented players.
Many players have been linked with Arsenal, including Southampton’s French midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, with both options costly for the north London side, but if reports are to believed, it would seem Wenger has opted for the Chilean star Vidal.
Meanwhile, Sami Khedira remains a viable option for the Gunners to consider with his deal at current side Real Madrid expiring this summer, meaning the only cost related to signing him would be contractual.
